Symphyotrichum elliottii House Plants Ruscus 'Wheeler's' is a self-fruiting(syn: Symphyotrichum elliottii) Aster elliottii is a fabulous East Coast native aster, first brought to our attention by Bob McCartney of Woodlanders. Similar to the Asian Aster tataricus, the large green basal leaves give rise to giant 6 8' tall spikes. Starting for us in late October, the wide spreading patches are topped with a spectacular show of 1" pink purple daisies, that are loaded with Monarch butterflies. Aster elliottii is a stoloniferous
