The pocket placed higher up is much better for catching falling food because the pocket opens wider and is positioned at the perfect height

(My 3-and-a-half-year-old son now uses the "medium" size in his bed for sleeping but still takes the baby size for outings)

The baby size is perfect for sleeping for a baby up to about 3 years old (so yes, it lasts a long time). After that, it can still be used for stroller rides, in the car, or on the sofa.
