Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf, surrounding a central raised Heer style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse with a narrow raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked W for Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen, measuring 42. 00 mm (w) x 53. 26 mm (h), weighing 34. 3 grams,
