The drinking area is designed to be non drowning for quail, pheasant, bantam or any other baby chicks. The very small area does not allow the baby chick or baby game birds to get in and drown. Being 1 gal. in size, it is much more convenient than using quart jar bases. This creates one filling instead of four. This base fits all of standard Kuhl 1 Gal. Plastic Jars QC
