Rolex Explorer Gilt Dial Super Precision 5500 fn-request Small case 59The Explorer that punches above its weight We are offering a very beautiful and seldom seen Explorer reference 5500, fitted with its original gilt dial. Early Rolex sports watches feature gilt dials, which have a glossy finish. The text and outer minute markers on these dials are a gold colour hence the term gilt. The colour is actually the brass dial base showing through, as the dials were printed with the text in relief. This watch is really cool
