The town, with its red stone buildings, grew rapidly due largely to the town's location on the banks of the River Ericht. In the 18th century the Blairgowrie area became a huge center for growing flax. It seems only fitting that this sampler, which was created in the style reminiscent of old Scottish samplers, should take its name
