as roots must be spread horizontally just below the soil surface and not stuck deep in the ground as is the case with virtually all other plants

The nice 2' wide mound of medium green foliage is topped in very late summer with incredible spikes of dark lavender flowers on wonderful, branched, candelabra like bloom scapes we counted up to eight branches from one scape INCREDIBLE!
