This transitional blade remains in an overall better than very fine condition

the exterior lid bears a central DRL cipher encompassed by an oak leaf wreath tied with a ribbon at the bottom and overlaid with a mobile swastika

on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon affixed to a classic bronze clasp with horizontal pinback

with some flecking of enamels evident in addition to a small chip to the reverse twelve o’clock arm

Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates 1941 1942, affixed with three reverse attachment prongs to a zink backplate with a field grey wool liner indicating Heer issue, the reverse retaining an intact paper backer, unmarked, the shield measuring 52. 66 mm (w) x 61. 80 mm (h),
