These are 4-5 year old flowering sized

and around it until they get so high they finally stagger off

this deciduous shrub to 4' tall is adorned with flaking brown bark and acts as a dieback perennial in the northern parts of its hardiness zone

with its slowly spreading habit similar to its faster spreading cousin

Thymus neiceffii Tanacetum discovered in the Pine Mountain(aka: Thymus leucotrichus subsp. neiceffii) Unlike most perennial thyme species, this Balkan endemic is actually a woody subshrub. Thymus neiceffii forms a slow spreading 2" tall carpet of hairy, glaucous green foliage that looks quite juniper like, but without the spines. We treasure this in our crevice garden, where it has thrived since 2021. The patch is topped with a lovely show of mauvy lavender flowers in May.
