The decoration is under glaze: the landscape is painted with a brush, while the regular border pattern is probably obtained by stamping, a typical combination of Japanese manufacturers of those years. The back is stamped with the manufacturer's seal. The break lines have been repaired with black urushi lacquer and finished with silver powder according to the maki e technique. The
